SUMMARY:

How could the use of conversational agents with Artificial Intelligence enhance teaching action in higher education in the current context? This is the central question guiding the present research project in Educational Informatics. This is an interdisciplinary study focused on teaching, aiming to explore the relationships between AI conversational agents, such as ChatGPT and similar technologies, and teaching practices, whether in instructional planning or in teacher intervention, particularly in the Brazilian andragogical context of the Federal Education Network and through the lens of active methodologies. Given the current scenario, in which there is widespread use of AI conversational agents, it is crucial to invest in initiatives aimed at improving the use of these technologies in education. Therefore, the creation and validation of a mediated instrument for the use of these technologies could represent an important step in this direction, contributing to a more reflective, critical, and efficient teaching practice, aligned with the demands and challenges of contemporary education. It is projected that, through Design Science Research, a mediated instrument will be developed cyclically as a technical product, based on interventions with the research participants. Partially, the non-applied research shows that the literature in the field is multifaceted and that there is a latent demand for accessible guidance.
