Digital Culture in the New High School: An Analysis of the Impacts and Challenges for Pedagogical Practice
Digital culture; High school; Pedagogical practice.
This work is linked to the research line: "Educational processes in digital culture: rethinking pedagogical practices and teacher education in contemporary times." This research project focuses on analyzing pedagogical practices related to the development of the theme of Digital Culture implemented in the "New" High School curriculum, within a state public high school located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, RS. In this context, the adopted methodology will be a qualitative approach of an exploratory nature, with field research as the primary procedure, along with documentary and bibliographic research. These methodological approaches are intended to provide an understanding of the documentation that gave rise to what is now called the "New" High School, as well as its historical and political context. The aim was to collect data through semi-structured interview questionnaires in order to understand teachers' perspectives on pedagogical practices in Digital Culture. In addition, a focus group was conducted with the teachers to deepen understanding and reflection. The educational product resulting from this research was developed based on content analysis derived from the data collected and consisted of an interactive guide. The relevance of this investigation lies in the urgent need to support pedagogical practices in Digital Culture, considering that, as a mandatory subject, it was only recently introduced into school curricula. This highlights the urgency of identifying both advancements and challenges—paths and possibilities—within this digitized society, of which the school is an integral part and plays a fundamental role in fostering democratic education and citizenship promotion.
