SUMMARY:

Professional and Technological Education aims for a comprehensive and
emancipatory human development, grounded in historical-dialectical materialism,
where theory and practice are inseparable. Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT) play a crucial role in daily life, offering tools to expand access to
and dissemination of knowledge. However, their potential is not yet fully exploited,
especially in educational settings. This research project stems from the researcher's
observations at their workplace, the Sombrio Campus of the Federal Institute of
Santa Catarina (IFC), with the general objective of studying the Maker Spaces of the
IFC as environments for the production of scientific knowledge and analyzing their
potential for the comprehensive education of integrated high school students. The
research adopts a qualitative and applied approach. As part of the study, an
educational product will be developed, a necessary condition for the completion of
the professional master's degree in the Graduate Program in Professional and
Technological Education (ProfEPT), which is the context of this research project. The
intended educational product aims to contribute to the practical resolution of the
problem related to the scarce dissemination of scientific knowledge in the maker
spaces of the IFC, aligning with the guidelines of Professional and Technological
Education (EPT). The research is part of Research Line 1 - Educational Practices in
Professional and Technological Education (EPT), of Macroproject 1 - Methodological
Proposals and Didactic Resources in Formal and Non-Formal Teaching Spaces in
EPT. The study will seek not only to understand the role of Maker Spaces in
education but also to propose innovative strategies to integrate ICT and maker
culture into the teaching-learning process, promoting a more critical, creative, and
autonomous education for students. The research will aim to explore the potential of
the IFC's Maker Spaces as environments for educational innovation, contributing to
the socialization of scientific knowledge and the comprehensive education of
integrated high school students, in line with the principles of EPT.
