THE USE OF SIMPLE LANGUAGE AS A FACILITATING TOOL IN EPT
Digital Board. Professional and Technological Education. Plain Language. Digital Accessibility.
This research proposal's main objective is to promote knowledge about Plain Language, its characteristics, and its contributions among teachers and first-semester students of the Proeja Course (National Program for the Integration of Professional Education with Basic Education in the Modality of Youth and Adult Education) and first-year students of Technical Courses Integrated into High School. The goal is for them to use it in the academic and professional context of Professional and Technological Education (PTE) at IFRS - Campus POA (Porto Alegre), thereby contributing to students' learning processes from their entry into the institution. This project is linked to the Postgraduate Program in Professional and Technological Education (ProfEPT), following the research line of Educational Practices in Professional and Technological Education (PTE). The study is directed towards Macroproject 2 - Inclusion and diversity in formal and non-formal teaching spaces in PTE, seeking ways to facilitate students' access to and retention within the training spaces offered by the Technical Courses Integrated into High School and the Technical Course in Administration Proeja, at the IFRS Porto Alegre Campus. The research's intention arises from the presumed difficulty students have in understanding various texts and activities, sometimes even leading them to drop out of their studies. It also considers that many teachers probably do not use Plain Language in preparing their teaching materials. In addition to bibliographic research, for this investigation, we will adopt the inductive empirical method, with a qualitative exploratory approach, collecting data from the research subjects – the teachers and students participating in the first semester of the Proeja Course (National Program for the Integration of Professional Education with Basic Education in the Modality of Youth and Adult Education) and first-year students of the Technical Courses Integrated into High School, for their use in the academic and professional context of Professional and Technological Education (PTE) at IFRS - Campus POA (Porto Alegre), through a Google Forms questionnaire and Focus Groups. As an educational product proposal, a Digital Mural (Padlet) will be developed, containing the concept, characteristics, guidelines, applications of Plain Language, and other complementary materials. This will give teachers quick and practical access to guides, manuals, videos, and various mechanisms. However, the concrete definition of this product will be finalized after the first stage of the research. Thus, it is expected that the tool will bring greater accessibility to the content worked on by both teachers and students when preparing school/academic assignments, in addition to encouraging them to adopt Plain Language in daily life, as is already happening in various instances in our country and worldwide.
