SUMMARY:

The family vitiviniculture in the Serra Gaúcha region is strongly marked by patriarchal dynamics that often render women’s work invisible, especially in the management of family wineries. This project stems from the recognition of this scenario and the need to understand how women have gained space and leadership in family ventures within the sector. The research aims to investigate the role of women in the management of family wineries, analyzing the challenges they face, the strategies they adopt to overcome gender barriers, and the opportunities arising from their involvement in business decision-making. The methodology includes bibliographic, documentary, and field research, with semistructured interviews conducted with women managers of family wineries in the Bento Gonçalves region, supported by Emater/ASCAR and the State Secretariat of Rural Development of Rio Grande do Sul (SDR-RS). In addition to qualitative analysis, the project plans to produce a book or e-book containing photographs and life stories of these women, with the goal of valuing their trajectories and fostering visibility and social recognition of their contributions. The expected results will support future public policies aimed at rural women and inspire new strategies for family succession, entrepreneurship, and sustainability in rural properties. The publication will also serve as a working tool for rural extension institutions, assisting technicians and extension agents in strengthening female participation in the family vitiviniculture sector.
