For decades, scientists have been warning about the urgent need to address climate change, but greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise, intensifying global warming. Productive consumption activities, such as the use of fossil fuels and agricultural practices, have raised global temperatures, with predictions indicating that this increase could soon exceed 1.5°C. This scenario represents a climate emergency, with profound implications for sustainable development and the planet's environmental stability. This research is justified by the need to evaluate the quality of climate change education in primary and secondary schools. By analyzing teaching materials and pedagogical practices, it aims to identify strengths and areas for improvement, providing recommendations to enhance the teaching of the subject. Furthermore, the research will contribute to the development of more effective educational policies and increase awareness among teachers and school administrators about the importance of climate change. The expected results of this research aim to strengthen climate change education in schools in Caxias do Sul by identifying the presence and quality of the content in official documents, teaching materials, and pedagogical practices.
